Shadow Studies

An ongoing photographic series exploring sunlight-cast shadows, focusing on shape, light, and abstraction.

For this ongoing project, I document shadows encountered in both familiar and unfamiliar environments, with many images taken during my travels across Southeast Asia and Sri Lanka, alongside photographs captured closer to home.

Using a digital camera, I focus on how sunlight interacts with natural and man-made forms, creating shifting compositions across different surfaces. The series prioritises the shadow as the subject, often disregarding the object casting it, and reducing forms into a simplified, two-dimensional visual language.
